Oatmeal Cookies

Oatmeal Cookies


3/4 cup shortening
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 egg
1/4 cup water
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 cups guick or old fashioned oats
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt (optional)
1/2 teaspoon baking soda

Beat togenther shortening, sugars, egg, water,
and vanilla until creamy.

Combine remaining ingredients,
and add to creamed mixture and mix well.

Drop by rounded teasponfuls onto greased cookied sheet
and bake at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes.

You can also add chopped nutes, raisins,
chocolate or butterscotch chips, or coconut.

Remove to wire rack to cool.

Yield about 5 dozen.
